Amazon Business
Amazon Business is an approved purchasing method for non-contracted items when products are not available through Purdue’s strategically sourced catalogs.
Amazon is our preferred supplier for office supplies, with pre-established discounted shopping lists for frequently purchased items.
Shopping lists with negotiated discounted pricing are established for Purdue’s most frequently purchased items in these categories:
- I.T. peripherals
- 3D printer filament
- Break room necessities
- Ergonomic accessories
- Office supplies
- Pack and ship needs
All purchases must be made through the university’s Amazon Business account and comply with the Purchasing Delegation Manual and internal control procedures.
View Only Catalog
A “view only” catalog is available for employees to access Purdue special discount pricing. Orders must be submitted through the Ariba catalog as they may not be placed from the view-only catalog. To initially access this catalog, please follow the instructions below:
- Send request to : purchasingrequest@purdue.edu
- Title the subject line: “Access to Amazon View Only”

Amazon Purchase Exceptions
Purdue restricts certain Amazon purchases to support responsible procurement and preferred supplier partnerships.
If a restricted item is essential, faculty and staff may submit an Amazon Purchase Exception and Business Justification Form.
What’s Required:
- A clear business justification explaining why the purchase is necessary and how it supports university operations
- Documentation showing that Purdue’s preferred suppliers were considered first
- Evidence that preferred suppliers were unavailable, unsuitable or unable to meet required specifications, timelines or pricing
Important Notes:
- Submission of this form does not guarantee approval
- Each request is reviewed in accordance with university procurement guidelines
- You will be notified by Procurement Services once a decision has been made
