Beware of scam calls impersonating JPMorgan Chase
Purdue Card Services has received reports of scam calls being made to cardholders of university Purchasing Cards or Travel Cards. Callers are posing as employees of JPMorgan Chase, Purdue’s card services provider. JPMorgan Chase will never call a cardholder to ask for sensitive account or personal information.
If a call like this or any other suspicious call is received, cardholders should not provide personal or financial information such as account numbers, passwords or PINs over the phone. Cardholders should immediately hang up and contact JPMorgan Chase directly, using only the phone number listed on the back of their Purdue-issued card, to verify the account status.
Reduce fraud by knowing common financial scam techniques
- Scammers attempt to gain access to financial accounts and funds by requesting account numbers, passwords, PINs, verification codes or other sensitive information.
- Scammers try to create a sense of urgency or fear by claiming there is fraudulent activity on the account.
- Scammers may request immediate action such as approving transactions or transferring funds.
For questions or assistance after speaking directly with JPMorgan Chase, contact Purdue Card Services at pcard@purdue.edu for Purchasing Cards or tcard@purdue.edu for Travel Cards.
