Recipients named for 2024 Purdue University Online Excellence Awards

Purdue University Online has announced the recipients of the 2024 Online Excellence Awards. The awards recognize professional accomplishment and promote creative and effective approaches to learning delivered via digital education media.

The awards are accompanied by a cash payment ($2,500 per award, split between multiple team members where applicable).

The 2024 recipients are:

  • Courtney Waxman (instructional technologist, Veterinary Medicine Distance Learning Program, West Lafayette) and Leah Miller (senior instructional designer, Teaching and Learning Technologies, West Lafayette) received the Excellence in Online Course Design and Delivery (Degrees) award for the course VM 240 – Nutrition for Veterinary Technicians.
  • Alexus Maschinot (senior instructional designer, Teaching and Learning Technologies, West Lafayette), Brian Becker (senior instructional designer, Teaching and Learning Technologies, West Lafayette), and Vincent Hornbach (senior video producer, Teaching and Learning Technologies, West Lafayette) received the Excellence in Online Course Design and Delivery (Credentials) award for the program Military Kids and Family Know the Drill.
  • Dr. Lakshmy Mohandas (associate instructional developer, researcher and lecturer, Center for Instructional Excellence and Purdue Polytechnic Institute School of Engineering Technology, West Lafayette) received the Scholarship of Online Teaching and Learning award for her article “The impact of interactive synchronous HyFlex model on student academic performance in a large active learning introductory college design course.”
  • Dr. Elizabeth Christian (assistant professor, Department of Education, Fort Wayne) and Dr. Emily Tock (reference and instruction librarian, Helmke Library, Fort Wayne) received the Innovative Online Use of Technology (Degrees) award for the course EDU 346 – Guidance for Young Children.
  • Dr. Zeynep Akgul (GTAP-U coordinator, Center for Global Trade Analysis, Department of Agricultural Economics), Ginger Batta (lead program manager, Center for Global Trade Analysis, Department of Agricultural Economics), and Dr. Amanda Countryman (associate professor, Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Colorado State University) received the Innovative Online Use of Technology (Credentials) award for the GTAP 101 Course – Introduction to Computable General Equilibrium Modeling in the GTAP Framework.
