Purdue offering new online Graduate Certificate in Business and Technology
Purdue University is launching a new online Graduate Certificate in Business and Technology. The graduate certificate can be earned in less time than a traditional master’s degree, and it teaches in-demand skills in business strategy and emerging technology, helping to meet a strong demand for business professionals with expertise in technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing.
The graduate certificate, which is offered by Purdue’s Mitch Daniels School of Business, was designed to help working professionals thrive in shifting business landscape. It teaches skills like computational decision-making, technology strategy and innovation management, giving students the tools they need to lead confidently in a changing technological landscape.
Build in-demand business and technology skills
“If today’s business leaders don’t understand the capabilities and limitations of emerging technologies, they risk falling behind,” said Mohammad Rahman, professor of management in Purdue’s Mitch Daniels School of Business. “Knowing how to evaluate a technology stack, build a tech-enabled competitive moat and make smart investment decisions isn’t just technical — it’s strategic. This certificate equips professionals with the insight and tools they need to lead the firms of tomorrow.”
To earn the graduate certificate, students take required courses in computational business intelligence, technology-driven business and economic analysis of technology markets. They also choose from a number of selective courses in topics like accounting, emerging technologies, technology strategy, leadership, technology governance and other essential skills. All courses are taught by Purdue West Lafayette faculty.
“Future business leaders need to understand technology and be able to apply it quickly in changing business climates,” said Rich Ryffel, professor of practice in Purdue’s Mitch Daniels School of Business. “Our technology-inspired business curriculum teaches students to analyze whether their businesses should be disrupters, first movers or fast followers, or whether the latest technology is likely a flash in the pan.”
Students can complete the 12-credit graduate certificate in just a few semesters of study, and all credits can be applied toward Purdue’s Master of Science in Business and Technology, a fully online master’s program that provides an in-depth look at the subjects covered in the graduate certificate.
The program is accepting applications for the spring, summer and fall semesters. Offered in a 100% online format, students can complete the certificate on their own schedule and gain valuable career skills quickly. The certificate can be completed as a standalone credential, or it can be used to build credit in the master’s in business and technology program.
