Office of Industry Partnerships hosting panel discussion on building sustainable partnerships

On Wednesday, November 19, Purdue University is hosting a panel discussion on how to build sustainable partnerships that can support faculty research, student career outcomes and innovation broadly. The event features four faculty panelists who have successfully partnered with major organizations like Amazon, Meta, Google, JP Morgan Chase, GM, Northrop Grumman, Bell Labs, Dow, Wabash, Corteva, Rolls-Royce and AstraZeneca. 

The panel discussion will be led by: 

  • Zhan Pang, professor of management in Purdue’s Mitch Daniels School of Business 
  • Kevin Parsons, associate professor of engineering practice in Purdue’s College of Engineering 
  • Lin Tan, Marty J. Elmore New Frontiers professor, ELATES Fellow, ACM distinguished member and IEEE senior member in Purdue’s Department of Computer Science 
  • Pablo Zavattieri, Jerry M. and Linda T. Engelhardt professor in Purdue’s College of Engineering and director of the Multi-Scale Mechanics and Materials by Design Lab 

Each panelist will offer insights and actionable strategies for building and sustaining cross-disciplinary collaborations, drawing from their own experiences working with major companies in tech, manufacturing, finance, pharmaceuticals and more. Panelists will also reflect on lessons learned from research collaborations, experiential learning projects and knowledge transfer initiatives.  

Together, the panelists will explore strategies for building and sustaining trust-based partnerships, gaining access to valuable data, and driving innovation and long-term impact. Attendees will learn about how partnerships benefit faculty and students alike. 

The event will take place on Wednesday, November 19 in Stewart Center, room 206 from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided for attendees, and advanced registration is appreciated.
