Healthy Boiler workshop to focus on reducing, reusing as part of going green

Recycling is known to keep waste of out landfills, prevent greenhouse gas emissions, reduce water pollution and save energy. Reducing and reusing are just as important in that effort. Megan Shidler, registered dietitian, and Whitney Soto, registered nurse health coach, both from the Center for Healthy Living (CHL), on April 30 will present a virtual Healthy Boiler workshop titled “Reduce and Reuse.”

“Amid the current pandemic and the sharp increase in disposable items (masks, PPE, gloves, paper plates, plastic silverware, etc.), there is no better time to take a step back, analyze our current lifestyle and find ways to reduce and reuse,” Soto says.

The workshop takes place from noon to 1 p.m. ET on April 30 via Zoom. Those interested should register by April 29 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. The registration link can be found under the “Engage” tab, “Wellness Events” on the portal’s homepage. Healthy Boiler workshops are free to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan.
