Healthy Boiler workshop – courtesy of Care@Work – to focus on importance of empathy
“The Importance of Empathy” is the topic of an upcoming virtual Healthy Boiler workshop, courtesy of Care@Work by Care.com. The workshop supports the behavioral health and work-life integration pillars of the Healthy Boiler Program and will take place from noon to 1 p.m. ET on May 12.
The workshop will address how work colleagues can make a big difference in helping each other get through tough times; however, many individuals are too burned out right now to offer their co-workers the support they need. The workshop also will provide resilience-building strategies and take attendees through an “empathy workout” that will help them learn how to support the people they care about most.
The presenter will be Kelsey Crowe, founder of Help Each Other Out, an organization that offers workshops, online education and community events to promote empathy and relationship building. Crowe earned her doctorate in social welfare at the University of California, Berkeley, and teaches social work at California State University. She is also head of the training company Empathy Bootcamp.
Those interested should register by May 11 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. The registration link can be found under the “Engage” tab, “Wellness Events” on the portal’s homepage. Healthy Boiler workshops are free to all benefits-eligible faculty, staff and dependents covered on a Purdue health plan.
