Healthy Boiler workshop to focus on back pain
Back pain is the topic of an upcoming Healthy Boiler workshop. Led by Lindsay Bloom, health coach at Purdue Fort Wayne, the “Healthy Backs” workshop will take place via Zoom from noon to 1 p.m. ET Oct. 8. The workshop supports the physical health pillar of the Healthy Boiler Program.
“Many people struggle with back pain as a result of sitting at a desk for long periods of time,” Bloom says. “Lower back problems can also affect your legs and hips, so protecting your back is important.”
Attendees will learn lifestyle tips and exercises to keep their backs healthy, strong and pain-free.
Those interested in attending should register by Oct. 7 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. The registration link can be found under the “Engage” tab, “Wellness Events” on the portal’s homepage. Healthy Boiler workshops are free to all benefits-eligible faculty, staff and dependents covered on a Purdue health plan.
Purdue Radiological and Environmental Management offers information on Home Office Ergonomics, which also can be helpful in alleviating and preventing back pain due to home office work stations.
