CVS Caremark FAQ

We expect very little impact to faculty and staff of Purdue Global. CVS Caremark/Aetna and CVS Caremark/UMR. Because we are still using CVS Caremark, many services you have today for your prescription plan will remain the same.

The plan coverage for your prescriptions did not change. However, it is standard practice for formulary updates to be made on Jan. 1 each year. If there are any changes to the 2023 drug list that impact your medication, you will receive a letter directly from CVS Caremark with information regarding that change.

CVS Caremark has an interactive online pricing tool that you can use to see the cost of your medications. This information is helpful when choosing a health plan.
You will have a new ID number for pharmacy claims in 2023. Your new number will be located on the UMR medical ID card. You will not have a separate Rx ID card. You may also find your ID number via the CVS app or by calling CVS Caremark member services. CVS Caremark will also notify pharmacies about changes to ID numbers but you should also provide the pharmacist with a copy of your card if you have it on hand.
No. CVS Caremark has the same network of participating pharmacies as before. There is no need to change pharmacy. You may search for a pharmacy at www.caremark.com
Starting 01/01/2023, you should show your new card to the pharmacy when you fill your prescription to make sure it processes through CVS Caremark. CVS Caremark will also send notice direct to pharmacy that new member ID numbers have been issued.
When the pharmacy processes your prescriptions, it will show your coverage is terminated. Once you give the pharmacy your new card, they will reprocess the claim.
No. The pharmacy will update your insurance information and your prescription will remain the same.

No. Any existing mail order prescriptions will carry over to the new carrier. No action needed.

Yes, this will not change your ability to use your FSA or HSA funds for pay for qualified pharmacy expenses.
