Clinical Translation Overview

A central focus of the Purdue Institute for Drug Discovery is advancing drugs and technologies to human clinical trials.

Our researchers work in various phases of drug discovery, including validation of new drug targets, design and delivery of drugs, and development of detection technologies that assist with the diagnosis and monitoring of treatment.

Several compounds developed by our researchers, often in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies or federal agencies, are already being used in the marketplace to treat chronic and acute illness. Many others are undergoing clinical trials in the United States and beyond. Clinical trials of drugs discovered or developed by Purdue faculty are being tested in more than 1,600 research hospitals/clinics around the world.
