Member Spotlight – Melissa Ridgley

For the month of August, Carla Briggs had the pleasure of interviewing Melissa Ridgley.

Melissa RidgleyMelissa is an administrative clerk in Speech and Audiology. Melissa is a people person! In Speech and Audiology, they get to see newborns clear up to geriatric patients. Each one is so fun and unique. She loves interacting with patients and helping them get appointments so they can hear. She said “I did not realize how many people do have hearing loss. I love comforting new moms that have babies with hearing loss. At first, they are devastated as expected, but once they figure out how it all works and see their little ones able to hear, it is so neat.”

Melissa also loves the fact that she has been here for six years, so she is seeing kids that have been here since she started and were babies – now they are in school.

When asked what she loves about CSSAC, Melissa said, “I am new to CSSAC and look forward to networking and meeting everyone.” She attended her first meeting a little over a month ago. Melissa also believes she will have fun and learn a lot while being on this committee.

Ridgley familyMelissa is married to Eric Ridgley. They have two children: a son, Nick (17), and a daughter, Olivia (16).

She is a crafter too! Melissa makes anything and everything! In the summer, her family likes to swim a lot. She is very family oriented, so her family does a lot of things together. Family dinners and having her nieces and nephews over to bake cookies for different holidays are some of the things she enjoys.
