Job family structure details now available online

At the October 5 town hall meeting, Bill Sullivan, Purdue’s treasurer and chief financial officer, announced that detailed information about the job family structure initiative is now available on the Human Resources website. Here’s a quick guide to the newly-published pages:

  • Transforming Our Job Structure describes the job family structure project and communication plan.
  • The Job Family Structure page lists the 13 job families, approximately 70 sub-families, career streams and career levels. Click the column headings on the page to view definitions of each job structure element.
  • The Elements and Terms page defines terminology used in the project and lists all the job families, sub-families, career streams and levels.
  • The Career Stream Level Guide (PDF) defines each of the five career streams (executive, management, professional, administrative and operational, and police, fire and skilled trades). It also provides finely detailed descriptions of each of the career levels within each stream.
  • A page of Frequently Asked Questions and answers is also available.

An additional town hall meeting is being planned to provide another opportunity for staff to see the presentation and ask questions, Sullivan said. Questions can also be sent to jobfamilystructure@purdue.edu.
