Research Title:Numerical modeling of External Gear Machines
Research Description:
External gear machines (EGMs) are used in a wide range of applications from hydraulic machinery to fuel injection and fluid handling systems. In these systems, EGMs are one of the main sources of energy losses. To reduce these losses and develop energy efficient EGMs, numerical models are needed to be developed to analyze the performance of these units.
The goal of my research is to develop numerical models to simulate the operation of EGMs that accounts for key flow aspects like the nature of flow and geometric aspects like manufacturing errors. These models can be used in accurate analysis of the performance of EGMs as well as in developing novel designs optimized for high efficiency.
Why CIGP?
My research is heavily inclined towards numerical modeling and I use computational techniques day in and day out. So, I decided to join Computational Interdisciplinary Graduate Program to learn more about various computational methods and their applications in other disciplines to enrich my outlook.
