This July 4, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, and we honor our country’s persistent pursuit of freedom and innovation.
Did you know the @USNationalArchives’ newest permanent exhibit has multiple #Purdue connections? Visitors to “The American Story” can see: 🚀 Original Apollo 11 film from @PurdueAeroAstro alum Neil Armstrong’s lunar mission 📻 The Coast Guard’s radio log tracking Amelia Earhart’s final voyage in her Purdue‑funded plane 📜 A rotating display that focuses on public debate over legislation like Title IX (which was written by @PurdueAg alum Sen. Birch Bayh) Meet Caroline Shanley, a 2019 @PurdueCollegeofLiberalArts alum, who works at @Archives.Foundation, promoting the vast array of historical artifacts contained within the National Archives’ collection. 🗽 https://purdue.university/3SE7MDM

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Purdue. 🚂 As Mitch Daniels begins serving as interim president, he shares a message with the Purdue community and his thoughts on the opportunities ahead. Daniels also shares the following note to the Purdue community: “While the sudden need for an interim president came as a surprise to us all, the friendly encouragement I've received from across the Purdue community convinces me we can move through this interval without any loss of momentum. Scott Tingle has traveled to space himself, spending 168 days in 2017-18 aboard the @ISS. 🚀 Now the @Purdue.ME alum is choosing who will follow in his footsteps. As @NASA’s chief of the astronaut office, Tingle is responsible for selecting crews for future spaceflights. Watch the full video linked in our bio to learn more about Tingle and the other 29 members of Purdue’s Cradle of Astronauts.
