Here’s What’s Happening Now

Discover how Meredith Hall got its name.

Meredith Hall was named in honor of Virginia Claypool Meredith (1848-1936), the first woman to serve on Purdue’s Board of Trustees. She championed better housing for female students and helped establish the university’s home economics department. As we count down to America’s 250th anniversary, we’re celebrating significant moments and people in Purdue’s history.
There would be no Cradle of Astronauts if not for pioneers like Gus Grissom. 🚀

The first #Purdue astronaut — and second American to fly in space — helped lay the groundwork for his alma mater to become one of the top training grounds for future astronauts and space researchers.

Watch the full video linked in our bio to learn about Grissom and the 29 #Boilermakers who have followed him in Purdue’s Cradle of Astronauts.
She’s not going to space alone. 🚀

@PurdueAeroAstro grad student Abigail Mizzi is preparing for the historic Purdue 1 flight, powered by the #Boilermakers who helped her reach this point. From classmates to mentors, every connection helped her build the wings to fly.
