Nominations sought for chancellor at Fort Wayne campus

The Search Advisory Committee for the position of chancellor at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), soon to be known as Purdue University Fort Wayne, is inviting nominations both within Purdue and from outside the University. The chancellor serves as the chief executive officer and will oversee completion of the realignment of the campus to Purdue governance and the completion of a campus restructuring, becoming the first chief executive officer of Purdue University Fort Wayne with an opportunity to lead the faculty and staff in shaping the future of the institution. The new name and governance will take effect July 1, 2018, pending approval by the Higher Learning Commission.

Essential qualifications include:

* Proven ability to build effective relationships with the leaders, businesses and civic organizations of the Northeast Indiana community.

* Experience raising funds to support the institution and its strategic priorities.

* Commitment to the land-grant mission.

* Experience with developing a budget, capital planning, financial management of a large, complex academic institution.

* Commitment to controlling student tuition and other costs at the lowest levels compatible with delivery of high-quality education.

* Substantial and documented experience in leading an institution of higher learning; those with experiences in leading other large, complex organizations are welcome to apply.

* Advanced degree is preferred. 

Led by committee chair Gary Lehman, a Purdue University trustee, the Search Advisory Committee will begin screening candidates during the summer term and will continue until the position is filled.
