Love Liberal Arts week kicks off today

Love is in the air this week (Feb. 13-17) with the second annual Love Liberal Arts celebration.

Among the various activities celebrating the Liberal Arts will be the launching of the new Liberal Arts Career Center, an offering of daily free hot chocolate stands, an opportunity to send free candy-grams to favorite Liberal Arts faculty and staff, a special Shakespearean-era presentation, and a social media contest.

Events kick off with free hot chocolate 8-9 a.m. today at the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall. Individuals also can sign up from 10 a.m.-noon in Beering Hall to send a free candy-gram to a College of Liberal Arts faculty or staff member. Candy-grams will be delivered the following day.

On Tuesday, the free hot chocolate continues from 3 to 4 p.m. at Class of 1950. Liberal Arts students also are encouraged to pick up their free Love Liberal Arts T-shirt from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday (Feb. 14-17) at the new Career Center in Beering Hall, Room 1289 (while supplies last). Along with receiving their shirt, students can enter into a social media contest by posting a photo of themselves wearing their shirt, a Love Liberal Arts pin or other Purdue gear with #LoveLiberalArts.

Free hot chocolate will be available in three locations -- Beering Hall, Pao Hall and Heavilon Hall -- on Wednesday (9-10 a.m.), Thursday (10-11 a.m.) and Friday (2-3 p.m.). On Wednesday, the public can head to The Anvil, 320 North St., at 7 p.m. for Shakespeare’s Funeral. On Thursday (Feb. 16), Ascend Indiana will connect with students on internship and career opportunities 5:30-7 p.m. in Beering Hall, Room 1284, and students can explore the Career Center in Room 1289.

All events are free. More information is available at cla.purdue.edu/LoveLiberalArts.
