APSAC picks vice chair, emeritus members

The Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee, at its April 13 meeting, elected its 2016-17 vice chair and two emeritus members.

Loran Parker was elected vice chair. Transition of members and officers occurs June 1. Parker is an assessment specialist at the Discovery Learning Research Center in Discovery Park. She told the committee's members that she sees as a central role of APSAC to highlight and advocate for the professional abilities and contributions of A/P staff.

Two members completing their terms were elected as emeritus members, a one-year role without vote to strengthen APSAC through continuity and knowledge. The two are Joy May and Sal Vallejo. May is finishing a year as APSAC chair. Sam Guffey, the current vice chair, will be chair for 2016-17.

APSAC also heard reports on several topics. Trent Klingerman, vice president for human resources, told the members that the creation of a job family structure across the West Lafayette campus is progressing well. It's a very large project, and a lot is done but a lot remains.
