America Saves Week encouraging employees to consider personal savings

Today through Saturday (Feb. 22-27), employees are encouraged to participate in America Saves Week, which provides guidance on the hows and whys of saving money.

This week is an ideal time for employees to think about their personal savings plan and consider how increasing savings now will affect their retirement income. More information is available at www.purdue.edu/hr/Benefits/currentEmployees/retirement/pdf/AmericaSavesWeek2016.pdf. To view 2016 retirement limits, current account balances or increase contributions, log into NetBenefits at http://netbenefits.com/purdue or call a Fidelity representative at 800-642-7131.

To encourage employees with modest incomes to save for retirement, the tax saver's credit offsets part of the first $2,000 voluntarily contributed to workplace retirement programs. Get more information about the saver's credit at https://www.irs.gov/Retirement-Plans/Plan-Participant,-Employee/Retirement-Savings-Contributions-Savers-Credit.

During America Saves Week, Fidelity is providing a complimentary curriculum of workshops on a range of topics, from managing finances to college planning strategies and learning to invest with confidence. Employees can attend just one, or sign up for a series of workshops. A schedule of America Saves workshops is available at www.purdue.edu/hr/pdf/americaSavesWorkshops.pdf. Register via the link provided on the workshop schedule.

Fidelity representatives can also provide in-person workshops at staff meetings or other events. To request a workshop, call 800-544-6868.
