University departments are invited to host open houses during Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) to engage with the incoming class.

These open houses aim to provide campus offices with an opportunity to connect with new and transfer students before the fall semester begins, said Craig Johnson, director of Orientation Programs.

“We’ll have two time blocks available with unstructured time so students can come and go as they please,” Johnson said. “The goal is to give students a chance to visit with individuals and offices that align with their identities, needs, or communities students are looking to be a part of.”

Office representatives who would like to host an open house may fill out a survey to sign up during the following dates and times:

  • 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16
  • 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17

The deadline to sign up to host an open house is 5 p.m. Friday, June 30. Please note that these events will be one of the many choices available to 8,000+ BGR participants and their 600 unique BGR groups. Because of this, Orientation Programs cannot predict attendance for any event hosted during these times.
