CATV Ethics & Policy Workshop: Ethics in Algorithms

PPRI CATV Ethics & Policy Workshop Series

Workshop 3: Ethics in Algorithms calls for participants to answer the questions:

    • What do we currently know about the ethical concerns regarding CATV implementation and operation?
    • What do we still need to know?
    • What are potential societal implications?
    • How can policy support innovation that serves the public good?

    Background
Discovery Park’s Purdue Policy Research Institute (PPRI), along with the Howard Baker Forum, hosted a roundtable discussion at the U.S. Capitol with policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and other stakeholders to talk about the complex issues surrounding connected and autonomous transportation vehicles (CATV). The four areas identified to be of most concern are: (1) Security, Cybersecurity, and Infrastructure; (2) Human Takeover and Safety; (3) Ethics in Algorithms; and (4) Workforce Impacts.

This is the third in a series of four workshops which PPRI is hosting to address each of these four areas of concern. Each workshop will produce a report to be shared with workshop participants and the interested parties from the U.S Capitol roundtable.
