Purdue University Distinguished Research Award Lecture Series

Each year, the Office of Research recognizes and highlights Purdue faculty members with recent research accomplishments of high significance and impact. Each of those faculty members is then invited to present their work as part of the Purdue University Distinguished Research Award Lecture Series.

Lu Ann Aday Distinguished Lecture

The award recipient presents their exceptional work in the humanities and social sciences and its impact on their field of research.

Ellen Ernst Kossek

Ellen Ernst Kossek is the Basil S. Turner Distinguished Professor of Management in the Krannert School of Management. A leading social scientist whose work has shaped the field of work-life and work-family research policy in the U.S. and internationally, was recognized for her contributions on the topic, including the equity issues that it implicitly addresses.

Arden L. Bement Jr. Distinguished Lecture

The award recipient presents the nature of their research and its contributions in pure and applied science and engineering.

Michael J. Manfra

Michael J. Manfra is the Bill and Dee O'Brien Distinguished Professor of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Science, and professor of materials engineering and of electrical and computer engineering in the College of Engineering. He also serves as the scientific director of Microsoft Quantum Lab West Lafayette and is an important contributor to the Quantum Science Center. Manfra, a leading condensed matter experimentalist, is being honored for his field-defining work in quantum physics.

Herbert Newby McCoy Distinguished Lecture

The award recipient presents the nature of their research and contribution to the field of natural sciences.

Yong Chen

Yong Chen is the Karl Lark-Horovitz Professor of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Science, professor of electrical and computer engineering in the College of Engineering, and the director of Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute. Chen was recognized for his significant research achievements and innovations in the synthesis and studies of various novel quantum materials and matters.
