Description

Title:  "Population multimorbidity: a biopsychosocial perspective"

Abstract: Burden of disease, especially multiple chronic conditions (multimorbidity), is a pressing concern in our aging population, and a better understanding of key determinants of multimorbidity and its consequences will point to ways to improve quality of life in later years. Using data from a large, national sample of middle-aged and older adults in the US, Elliot Friedman is examining the ways in which social factors (e.g. socioeconomic status), psychosocial resources (e.g. purpose in life), and biological mechanisms (e.g. inflammation) interact to predict better or worse outcomes in individuals with multiple chronic conditions.

Elliot Friedman is an assistant professor of human development and family studies.

Lunch begins at 11:30; presentation begins at noon. No RSVP is needed unless bringing a large group.
