Bench to bedside: The development and application of evidence-based guidelines

Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering
September 20, 2010
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Burton Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship

Description

Join RCHE for a morning focused on this key issue in healthcare. Evidence-based guidelines present one opportunity to ensure more consistent care across providers and regions; however, research shows that they are used only about half of the time (McGlynn, 2003). As evidence-based guidelines again come into focus, this conference will explore the beginnings, applications, and current status of their use.

As CEO of Premier Inc., Richard Norling presided over a 300-hospital pilot of the use of evidence-based standards in cardiac care. Joint Commission president Mark Chassin will discuss how his organization views and evaluates quality and the use of evidence-based guidelines in ensuring high-quality healthcare.
