Organized by College of Ag and ISF, this seminar will explore the importance of systems thinking in research planning with particular emphasis on large USDA proposals such as the Sustainable Ag Systems program.

Preparing for a Sustainable Ag Systems proposal – Practicing Systems Thinking

March 7th from 11:30 – 12:30 in DLR 131

Limited to 25 participants – Priority will be given to those who plan to lead or participate in a 2024 NIFA SAS proposal or another similar systems proposal. PI and team members are welcome.

Session will include:

  1. Panel discussion on the importance of systems thinking in agriculture and sustainability science
  2. Examples (abstracts, graphs) of systems approaches in funded SAS proposals
  3. Discussion of the SAS Letter of Intent (LOI) outline
  4. Fill out a worksheet to get started on the two-pagers (e.g., LOIs)
