Lecture: Jaguar and mammal conservation across unprotected areas in South America by Valeria Boron

Institute for a Sustainable Future
November 12, 2021
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Zoom

Description

Jaguars are the largest felid species in the Americas. They are an important keystone species; however, they are declining in numbers due to habitat loss, direct killing, and decline of their prey. As for other large carnivores, protected areas are not enough to guarantee their long-term conservation and connectivity. The talk will explore research and applied projects that aim to achieve jaguar and mammal conservation across unprotected areas, uncovering their habitat requirements and decreasing conservation threats in these areas.
