Description

Traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injuries can cause catastrophic pain and strife in the lives of those afflicted, hindering their abilities to live fulfilling lives. Providing effective treatment to improve the quality of life for these victims is one of the most challenging and impactful medical problems of the modern era.  We seek to galvanize interdisciplinary investigations that combine Purdue’s existing expertise in science and engineering, in both the basic and clinical arenas. Through a deeper understanding of the fundamental mechanisms underlying these devastating neurological injuries, we strive to improve or create novel treatments and preventative measures. PIIN inaugurated a “Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Seminar Series” (BSCI) in the Fall of 2017, we will continue this seminar series in the Spring of 2018.
