Office of Supplier Development and engagement

The Office of Supplier Development and Engagement supports the inclusion of small and veteran-owned businesses in the university’s supply chain and also provides outreach, networking opportunities and educational resources for suppliers and campus partners.

Outreach and Advocacy

The Office of Supplier Development and Engagement and Procurement Services participate in local, regional and state matchmaking events and trade fairs. Prospective suppliers are given the opportunity to share their products or services through direct contact with Purdue purchasing representatives.

In addition to facilitating connections between suppliers and Purdue organizations, the Office of Supplier Development and Engagement and Procurement Services staff are available to speak at community outreach and contracting events.

Goals

The university is committed to the following goals and practices:

  • Improve vendor access by providing clear guidance on how to identify opportunities and navigate procurement processes. 
  • Strengthen engagement with small businesses, veteran-owned businesses, Indiana-based firms and start-ups through targeted outreach, education and networking opportunities. 
  • Support fair, open and competitive sourcing by helping vendors better understand business needs, expectations and requirements. 
  • Build long-term supplier relationships that encourage innovation, responsiveness and shared values. 
  • Promote local and regional economic impact by increasing awareness of qualified Indiana-based suppliers and emerging businesses. 
  • Align website messaging, supplier events and procurement communications under a consistent, inclusive supplier engagement strategy.
