Purdue Musical Organizations to perform free spring concert

April 10, 2015

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Springtime means the end of the season for four Purdue Musical Organizations ensembles, as they perform their final concert Friday (April 17).

University Choir, Purdue Bells, Heart & Soul, and the All-Campus and Community Chorale will be featured at the 7 p.m. concert at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Center, 535 W. State St., West Lafayette. The concert is free and open to the public; no tickets are required.

"PMO students have been rehearsing all year long, so they are very excited for this final opportunity to showcase their talents," said William Griffel, director of Purdue Musical Organizations. "They do such a variety of music, everything from gospel to pop to traditional choral music. The audience will see just how much fun the students are having."

Many of the students will be performing with PMO for the last time, as seniors are preparing to graduate.

Each ensemble is one of a variety of performance opportunities within Purdue Musical Organizations. More than 250 students perform with PMO annually in more than 100 shows. Purdue has no school of music, so nearly every academic major is represented in the organization. PMO provides students with opportunities to perform and travel, as they represent the university at various events around the state. PMO also provides more than $300,000 in scholarships annually.
