USDA Undersecretary Woteki visiting Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's undersecretary for research, education and economics will give a lecture at Purdue University on Thursday (Dec. 4) as part of a daylong visit to the campus.

Cathie Woteki, who also is the USDA's chief scientist, will speak on the topic of "Challenges and Opportunities for Agricultural Science." The presentation will be from 11 a.m. to noon in Deans Auditorium of Pfendler Hall.

The event is free and open to the public. It also will be streamed live online at http://www.kaltura.com/tiny/zn1he.

Woteki also will meet with various university administrators, researchers and students to discuss university research, including that of the College of Agriculture's plant sciences initiative, and tour some research labs during her visit.

"We are very excited to host Dr. Wotecki at Purdue," said Jay Akridge, Glenn. W. Sample Dean of Purdue Agriculture. "She is recognized as a global thought leader, and we are looking forward to her insights on the future of agricultural research, extension, and education."
