Israeli official to speak at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Consul General of Israel to the Midwest will speak on Tuesday (Nov. 19) at Purdue University.

Roey Gilad will present "A View of the Middle East from Jerusalem" at noon at Stewart Center, Room 214. The event is free and open to the public.

Gilad is Israel's highest-ranking official in the Midwest, and he is responsible for 11 states in the region. He has spent 23 years with Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and he has served in the United Kingdom, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and Kenya. He also was head of the Political Affairs Department in Israel's Embassy in London; media spokesperson in Israel's Embassy in Amman, and the second secretary in Nairobi. Recently, he was at Israel's National Defense College and prior to that was head of the Export Control Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

He has earned master's degrees in national security and Middle Eastern Studies, and served as a staff sergeant in the artillery forces of the Israel Defense Forces.
