As another academic year comes to a close, summer projects on the West Lafayette campus are ramping up. From sidewalk and road closures to progress on capital projects, several summer projects will impact travel for the campus community.

The following road, sidewalk and parking impacts will be in place during the coming months:

Ross-Ade Stadium: John R. Wooden Drive remains closed from north of Tower Drive to south of Joe Tiller Drive as renovations at Ross-Ade Stadium continue. Both sidewalks on either side of John R. Wooden Drive also remain closed. Additionally, Tower Drive from John R. Wooden Drive to Steven C. Beering Drive has been converted to a one-way for westbound traffic only. The closure and impacts are expected to remain in place through mid-August.

Data Science: As progress continues on renovations for the new data science facility, formerly Schleman Hall of Student Services, some restrictions remain in place. These restrictions include fenced-off sidewalks around the facility and a partial closure of the Armory parking lot. The renovations are expected to be complete in spring 2024.

Stewart Center: Fencing has been installed on the south side of Stewart Center, near Hicks Undergraduate Library, to facilitate work for a window replacement project. The fencing will move to various locations around the building as the project progresses. The fencing will remain in place through the end of September when the project is set to be complete.

Black Cultural Center and Third Street: Fencing will be installed along the west side of the Black Cultural Center and into Third Street beginning in mid-May to facilitate a utility project. Access to the main entrance of the center will be maintained, and the west entrance will be converted to an emergency exit only. The Third Street corridor will remain open.

Cherry Lane: As part of the ongoing construction to relocate a section of Cherry Lane north to facilitate the construction of a roundabout and the new Pete Dye Clubhouse, Cherry Lane continues to allow for local access only. The signed detour route for Cherry Lane is either McCormick Road or Northwestern Avenue to Lindberg Road. No through traffic of any kind is permitted on Cherry Lane while work continues through July.

South Martin Jischke Drive: South Martin Jischke Drive south of Mitch Daniels Boulevard to Harrison Street is closed for repairs and enhancements, including the addition of bicycle lanes. The first phased closure includes South Martin Jischke Drive between Mitch Daniels Boulevard to north of the loading dock for the Martin Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering. That phase is expected to be complete by mid-June. The second phase will then occur south of the loading dock and to Harrison Street. That closure is scheduled to last from mid-June to early August.

McCutcheon Drive Parking Garage: The McCutcheon Drive Parking Garage is closed to facilitate construction work over the summer. The closure is expected to last through Aug. 5.

In addition to the projects listed above, there will intermittent lane restrictions along Mitch Daniels Boulevard during the week of May 29 as permanent signage is installed. There are also other road patching and parking lot repairs scheduled for the summer. Some of the locations for these projects include Memorial Drive, Hilltop Drive and the Mollenkopf Athletic Center parking lot. There will also be various sidewalk closures throughout the summer months. Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution in these areas, obey all posted signs and seek alternate routes if possible.

Updates about construction and road projects will continue to be posted on the Physical Facilities construction and travel notices webpage.
