Open enrollment 2021: HR launches website, virtual resources to assist faculty and staff
Human Resources has launched the new Open Enrollment 2021 website to help Purdue employees on the West Lafayette, Purdue University Northwest and Purdue University Fort Wayne campuses prepare for next month’s benefits open enrollment period. Human Resources also has opened registration for a variety of informational sessions. Employees will note some changes and additions to this year’s presentations and one-on-one meetings, which follow guidelines outlined in the Protect Purdue Plan.
Open enrollment, running Oct. 28 to 6 p.m. EST Nov. 10, offers faculty and staff the opportunity to review benefit options and plan for the upcoming year. Because all 2021 medical plans are new, all employees will need to enroll. Below is a list of open enrollment resources:
Open Enrollment 2021 website – A new, dedicated enrollment website provides thorough and accessible information about all aspects of open enrollment. The 2021 Benefits Guide included on the website summarizes changes to benefit offerings that affect plans and premiums, Healthy Boiler incentives, health savings accounts contributions and changes to the enrollment procedures. The guide also outlines details of vision, dental and voluntary life and accident coverages for 2021. The website also features a Newsroom with all past benefits enrollment communications; a Resources section with presentations, videos and more; and links to connect employees with other benefits-related information such as medical, prescription, dental and vision.
Virtual presentations – HR Benefits will not be holding general presentation sessions in person this year. Instead, HR Benefits and HR business partners are collaborating to hold virtual presentations for each department or academic unit, by request. A recorded, interactive version of presentation also will be available online. More information, including schedules for each campus, is available on the Resources section of the enrollment website.
Virtual one-on-one meetings – Using Microsoft Teams or by phone, Benefits team members will be available from Monday (Sept. 14) to Oct. 23 to discuss open enrollment. When scheduling a meeting, an employee can select from topics including the new consumer-directed health plans medical offerings, transitioning from a preferred provider option to a CDHP, how prescriptions are covered and voluntary coverage options. More details are here. Questions not related to open enrollment may still be directed to the HR Service Center at 765-494-2222 or hr@purdue.edu.
In-person labs – Though employees should take advantage of this year’s enhanced online resources, in-person assistance will be available by appointment only from Oct. 28 to Nov. 10 in the Kurz Purdue Technology Center in Purdue Research Park of West Lafayette for those who need additional help. Protect Purdue protocols will be in place. More information and scheduling will be available closer to enrollment.
Medicare/retirement presentations and one-on-one meetings – Employees who will be age 65 in 2021 can schedule a one-on-one meeting with a benefits specialist or register to watch virtual presentations. An informational video also will help eligible employees make decisions about Medicare and Social Security.
