Deadline nearing for benefits enrollment for 2019 – enroll by 6 p.m. ET Monday

Faculty and staff at the West Lafayette, Purdue Fort Wayne and Purdue Northwest campuses have until 6 p.m. ET Monday (Nov. 5) to enroll for 2019 benefits.

Effective today (Oct. 30), BoilerKey, Purdue's new two-factor authentication service, is required for system access, including open enrollment. Visit www.purdue.edu/boilerkey for information and instructions.

Two changes to the 2019 medical plans were announced via a memorandum distributed on Oct. 23. Employees are encouraged to review this information before enrolling.

Although no changes from 2018 will be made to the spousal coverage policy for 2019, the Benefitfocus enrollment survey that employees complete while enrolling will still ask a question about spousal coverage. Employees must select a response to move forward with completing their enrollment; however, the response will not affect their 2019 benefits, and it does not matter which response is selected.

When employees log in to Benefitfocus and complete their enrollment, they need to make sure they follow the enrollment path until they have submitted their enrollment. Employees have until 6 p.m. ET Monday (Nov. 5) to submit their enrollment. No changes to benefit plans will be accepted after that date unless there is a qualifying life event (change in family status). The next opportunity to update employee benefits will be during next year’s open enrollment time frame (October 2019).

Employees also can enroll for 2019 benefits using the Benefitfocus mobile app. Install the Benefitfocus app from Google Play for Android devices or the App Store for Apple devices. Enter “enrollpurduebenefits” as the company ID and log in with career account and BoilerKey. For additional information on the mobile app, visit the open enrollment home page.

Human Resources encourages employees to enroll now and keep a copy of the enrollment summary page for their records. Those who have already enrolled can review their elections and make any changes up to 6 p.m. ET Monday. Those who make changes should be sure to save changes and resubmit their enrollment.

The dedicated website for open enrollment 2019 provides all the need-to-know information for faculty and staff to ensure they make the best selections for themselves and their families. From the website, faculty and staff can access not only the detailed, step-by-step instructions to enroll, but also medical and prescription information as well to help them select coverage best-suited to their needs.
