Healthy Boiler workshop to focus on strength training; register by Jan. 20
As part of the Healthy Boiler workshop series, a four-week virtual strength-training program will be offered Feb. 3-24. “One to One Strong” will take place from noon to 1 p.m. ET on Thursdays and supports the physical health pillar of the Healthy Boiler Program.
“The program is designed to teach the fundamentals of resistance training and guide participants as they create individualized resistance training programs that are realistic, manageable and will contribute to their overall health and fitness goals,” says Lindsay Bloom, health coach at Purdue Fort Wayne, who will be leading the sessions.
Each class will include both an educational and active component, and participants will be encouraged to meet with Bloom or a health coach at the Center for Healthy Living on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus for a pre- and post-program InBody assessment. The InBody scale uses patented bioelectrical impedance technology to measure the entire body in five different segments – right arm, left arm, torso, right leg and left leg. Results will show individuals their distribution of fat, water and muscle in their bodies.
Those interested in should register by Jan. 20 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. The registration link can be found under the “Healthy Boiler Workshops” section on the portal’s homepage. Hover over the workshop’s button and hit “Submit” to register.
Healthy Boiler workshops are free to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan.
