Data Governance at Purdue

Quality, trusted data and an involved data community increase the value of institutional data. It allows the use of data in a proactive, action-oriented way. The ability to have meaningful interaction with quality data is our competitive edge.

Purdue University's data governance strategy includes an executive data council, data governance board, and five data governance committees. These groups provide oversight and structure to data management. Their work ensures responsible use of data, effective communication, and data transparency for the campus community.

Metadata management is another critical component of our data governance strategy. Purdue utilizes Data Cookbook software for the enterprise source of data defintions, standard reports, and dashboards.
