Purdue Engineering Live

Purdue Engineering Live is a series of live, virtual events that each focus on a particular aspect of Purdue Engineering and feature a panel of current students, staff, and/or faculty. These events are exclusively for admitted students and their families to allow them to learn more about Purdue Engineering and ask their questions in real-time interactions.

Each of the events will take place on YouTube, and viewers will be able to submit questions to the panelists throughout each event. Check out our Frequently Asked Questions page for more details on how the event will take place.

Links to join each live event will be emailed directly to you in the days leading up to each broadcast. Replays will be posted here and on our YouTube channel the day following each event.

Congrats again on your admission to Purdue Engineering! You've probably heard that a lot by now, but we're certainly not tired of saying it!

Here at the Office of Future Engineers, our goal is to help you determine if Purdue Engineering is the right place for you. Obviously, we'd love for everyone to find their fit here, but we also know that everyone has their own criteria for what they are looking for in a college.

With that in mind, we want to celebrate with you on your admission and answer any initial questions you may have about Purdue, so we'd like to invite you to join us for our upcoming broadcast called Engineering Live: Congrats & Questions! We'll have current Purdue Engineering students and staff on-hand to share what it's really like to pursue a Purdue Engineering degree, plus some special guests from the College of Engineering faculty!

What are classes like? Is there time for fun? Can I study abroad? Ask us about the aspects of student life that are important to you. We're definitely not shy to talk about the resources and opportunities Purdue has to offer!

In this broadcast, we'll be talking about all of the ways our students are getting involved on campus outside of their classes and enjoying their time at Purdue.

Now you might be thinking, "Isn't Purdue just a bunch of cornfields in the middle of nowhere? Is there really that much to do there?" Trust us when we say we get that question a lot, and trust us also when we say there absolutely really is so much to do here! As a Big 10 university with over 1,000 student organizations and students coming from all 50 states and over 100 countries, there are so many amazing people to meet, events to attend, and things to get involved in!

Our student panelists will talk about what they do for fun, share some of their favorite memories so far, and give their tips on how to balance academics with a thriving social life.

In this broadcast, we'll be talking about all the experiential opportunities available to Purdue Engineering students!

We know that "experiential opportunities" is a bit of a mouthful, but it's the most concise phrase we've been able to come up with to capture all of the ways that our students are able to learn by doing - things like internships, co-ops, study abroad programs, research projects, vertically-integrated projects, community service projects, and more. Now that's a mouthful!

Our student panelists in this broadcast will talk about the what, how, and why of the things they've done and plan to do, and as always we'll be taking your questions throughout! How soon can I get involved in research and internships? Do internships and co-ops pay very much? Where can I go for study abroad? We'll answer those questions and more, so come join us!

This broadcast is designed exclusively for the parents and families of our admitted students!

We know that entering college is a big step - not just for our students, but also for their families. You probably have some questions of your own about Purdue relating to academics, student life, job opportunities, and more. We are here to answer your questions - whether they are about Purdue Engineering or Purdue in general!

For this broadcast, we will have current engineering students, faculty and staff from across campus, and a couple other special guests on hand to cover these hot topics and answer viewers’ questions!

In this broadcast, we'll be featuring some of our recent Purdue Engineering alumni!

Our alums will reminisce on their time as students, share how Purdue prepared them for their current careers, and provide their insights into what it's like as an actual practicing engineer! Were all the late nights and stressful exams really worth it? What do you know now that you wish you knew as a student? How did you survive all those years walking uphill in the snow to and from classes every single day? We'll answer those questions and more, as well as take questions from our audience throughout the broadcast!

It'll be a great mix of "Back in my day..." stories and insights into current trends in the field of engineering to show how things have changed over the years and how much has stayed the same.

Stop us if you've heard this before: "Oh, you want to be an engineer? I hope you're really good at math and science! Better not plan on having a social life! Get used to bad grades!"

While it's true that engineering is a challenging field, there are a ton of ways to not only survive but also thrive as a Purdue Engineer. In fact, we're going to spend an entire two-hour live broadcast talking about it!

In this broadcast, we will talk about the variety of engineering majors we offer, the resources available for our students to succeed in whichever one they choose, and the life lessons our students have experienced along the way.

Don't worry, this isn't going to be a long, one-sided lecture. In addition to hearing from a panel of current engineering students and Purdue staff, we'll also be taking questions from our audience throughout the entire broadcast.
