Are there any fraternities or sororities in Indianapolis?

Purdue University is committed to growing the Fraternity and Sorority experience in Indianapolis in the Fall 2026 semester. Any student interested in learning more about the fraternity and sorority experience, the joining process, and how they can get involved should contact the Fraternity, Sorority and Cooperative Life Office at: fscl@purdue.edu or 765-494-5990 -OR- connect directly with the organizations actively expanding:

  • Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority will launch the first Panhellenic sorority experience at Purdue in Indianapolis beginning in August 2026.
  • Theta Xi Fraternity will launch the first Interfraternity Council fraternity experience at Purdue in Indianapolis beginning in August 2026.
    • Interested students should connect with Theta Xi staff Kevin Geraci Kevin@thetaxi.org and follow their Instagram @thetaxifraternity or view their website at www.thetaxi.org
  • Students interested in joining a National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) or a Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) organization in Indianapolis can seek membership in one of the city-wide/metro chapters by expressing interest
Can I join an organization in West Lafayette?
Yes, students in Indianapolis can join organizations in West Lafayette. The joining processes for the West Lafayette organizations are available on each council page. These organizations hold most, if not all, of their events in West Lafayette. If you are looking for an experience in Indianapolis, joining a chapter there is a great option to get involved and make friends!

Are Purdue students able to join IUI fraternities and sororities?
IUI fraternities and sororities are not recognized or supported by Purdue University.
