Incident information

UPDATE: A similar fire was set in Owen Hall around the same time today. If you have any information about these fires, please contact PUPD at 911 or 765-494-8221.

Purdue Police and Purdue Fire Departments have responded to two intentionally set fires in restrooms of Earhart Hall.  Paper towels and towel rolls were set on fire – both burned themselves out. Fires were set between 4pm and 6pm today.

Arson Safety Tips:

  • Immediately report any fire to Purdue Police or Purdue Fire by calling or texting 911.

  • Report any suspicious behavior by calling 911.

  • Have an escape plan with two options (if possible) and discuss it with all residents.

  • Familiarize yourself with the location of fire extinguishers in places you frequent.

  • Do not try to extinguish any fire alone – still call 911.

  • Contact the fire department even if smaller fire has been extinguished.
  • Do not stop to collect personal belongings and do not re-enter a burning building for any reason until the 'all clear' alert is given by public safety officials.

Buring paper on bulletin boards is arson. Call 911 if discovered.
