Student Trustee Application and Selection

One of the ten members of the Board of Trustees is a full-time student.  The student trustee is the student representative to the Board of Trustees, serves on the Board's Academic and Student Affairs Committee and Physical Facilities Committee, and has an equal vote on all actions taken by the Board.  Any undergraduate or graduate student from the West Lafayette, Purdue Fort Wayne (PFW), or Purdue Northwest (PNW) campuses may apply.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Student Life oversees the application and interview process.  A search committee interviews the applicants and selects ten finalists to be interviewed by Governor Holcomb, who then appoints the student trustee to serve a two-year term.  This resolution concerning the University process for selecting the student trustee was approved by the Board on October 2, 2020.

Applications for the 2023-2025 student trustee are now being accepted; download the application form for additional details.

Mark Gee, our current student trustee, and Izzy Weber, Study Body Vice President and Chair of the Search Committee, share information about the selection process, and overview and responsibilities of being a student trustee. You may watch the recorded information session here.
