About BoilerConnect

Purdue's West Lafayette campus is implementing a technology platform called BoilerConnect as part of ongoing efforts to improve retention and graduation rates of undergraduate students. It will be a one-stop student success platform that combines predictive analytics with communication and workflow tools to help support, retain and graduate students.

BoilerConnect is an initiative sponsored by Frank Dooley, Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning, who has identified several goals for the platform:

  1. Increase retention and graduation rates for all students, and reduce retention and graduation rate gaps for low-income and first-generation students.
  2. Identify institutional barriers to success.
  3. Provide seamless communication about students across campus.
  4. Improve the efficiency of campus workflows.

Academic advisors, student affairs staff members, and professors have asked for greater access to information about their students and early alerts so they can find out about potential problems before they happen. BoilerConnect will provide that, all in one place, as well as the capability for better communication across units so students don’t get lost as they are referred to other campus partners. For example, if an advisor recommends that a student visit Purdue's Center for Career Opportunities, the advisor could make the referral in the BoilerConnect system. CCO staff would then be notified about the referral and could reach out to the student as well.

The BoilerConnect platform is from the Educational Advisory Board, a provider of research, technology, and consulting services to colleges and universities nationwide.
