MaPSAC Management and Professional Staff Advisory Committee

Chair’s Corner – July 2018

Brittany ValeThis past month has been busy for APSAC. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

  • Assisted in the search committee for the vice president of human resources
  • Advertised the 2018 Community Spirit Award announcement
  • Awarded professional development grants to A/P staff
  • Began planning Purdue’s Annual Resource Fair
  • Organized and hosted Purdue’s regional campuses for the first-ever all-APSAC meeting on the West Lafayette campus

The chairs of both APSAC and CSSAC have been involved in meeting with the candidates for the VP of HR. We are very honored and excited to be involved in this top leadership search committee.

The Membership and Communications team recently pushed out the 2018 Community Spirit Nomination form.

The Community Spirit Award seeks to recognize Purdue employees’ outstanding service to the community, society and humanity. You can find the nomination form here.

The Professional Development team awarded 14 grants totaling to $9,789 to Purdue employees to use for Professional Development activities. Congratulations to all those receiving this award!

Our Compensation and Benefits team has been gearing up for the Annual Resource Fair here on campus. Be looking for more information on this event as it gets closer to September.

On July 11, the West Lafayette APSAC group hosted regional APSAC members for the first time! The regional members got a campus tour from none other than John Sautter, senior advisor of the Purdue Alumni Association, who highlighted historical landmarks that we walk by every day. The group dined like true Boilermakers at the Earhart Dining Court, providing an understanding of the true meaning of the freshman 15! We ended the event at WALC with two guest speakers. Trent Klingerman, Purdue’s assistant legal counsel and chief privacy officer, welcomed the group and gave a University Officer’s report. Our second guest was Purdue Pete himself, reminding us all what it is like to be a true fan.

I want to thank everyone who made this month great! APSAC looks forward to hammering down and gearing up for another record-breaking academic year. Boiler Up!
