The following actions are part of the department’s business planning process:
Advocate
Promote and strengthen the campus-wide understanding of the value of supplier diversity
Identify
Recognize diverse suppliers that have the viability, business practices and capacity to support university business
Cultivate
Assist diverse suppliers to expand their knowledge of the university, provide them with unique training, and build strong relationships to improve business practices
Connect
Introduce and facilitate mutually beneficial business relationships with diverse suppliers and university business partners
Minority-, women-, or veteran-owned businesses interested in learning how to do business with Purdue University should reach out via email.
Outreach and Advocacy
The Office of Supplier Diversity and Procurement Services participate in local, regional and state matchmaking events and trade fairs. Prospective suppliers are given the opportunity to share their products or services through direct contact with Purdue purchasing representatives.
In addition to facilitating connections between diverse suppliers and Purdue organizations, the Office of Supplier Diversity and Procurement Services staff are available to speak at community outreach and contracting events.

Goals
The university is committed to expanding opportunities and spending with businesses certified by the State of Indiana. Procurement Services goals and practices encourage increased opportunities for certified minority-, women-, and veteran-owned (MWVBE) businesses.
The university recognizes the State of Indiana goal utilization percentages.
Purdue has established processes to ensure businesses of all demographics are given the opportunity to compete for university contracts.
Participate and host orientation sessions for suppliers interested in doing business with the university
- MWVBE suppliers are included in solicitations over $1,000 for goods and services.
- Goals are included in formal solicitations, and respondents are encouraged to complete and return a signed document indicating their status as a business and their ability to subcontract with other MWVBE businesses.
- Strategically sourced contracts include requirements for suppliers to provide their second-tier spend with diverse suppliers quarterly.
