Summer Start Housing

Summer Start students will be automatically assigned to the Catalyst Learning Community.  However, our learning community has no assigned building so students may live in any residence hall and be part of additional learning communities that require a living component.

Learning communities help ensure students get the most out of their experience at Purdue by combining coursework and extracurricular activities. Over 90% of our freshmen live in a residence hall, so you'll have a blast meeting new people! In addition to making new friends, studies show that college GPA increases when living on campus; employers ranked GPA as the third-most influential factor while hiring recent graduates in 2016. The Catalyst Learning Community will collectively provide support and activities throughout the year to help you thrive as a Boilermaker.

Summer Start students may also join the recruitment process for cooperative housing, fraternities, and sororities; if selected, students may choose to live in the house starting sophomore year.

The Think Summer housing contract will open on February 1 and more information can be found here.

Housing can be contacted by emailing newres@purdue.edu or calling 765-494-1000.

Housing and meal plans are offered at a reduced rate during Summer Start.

Housing Session Rate

Five-Week Summer Start 2024 Session

$1,150 - $1,500

Meal Plans

Your housing contract will include 13 meals per week and $125 Dining Dollars. Your meal plan can be adjusted for the fall and spring semesters. Most students find 13 meals to be an adequate amount in our all-you-can-eat dining halls. Meal swipes may be used in any of Purdue Dining & Catering’s residential dining courts. Dining Dollars may be used to purchase extra meals for you or your guests in Purdue Dining & Catering residential and retail dining locations. Summer meal swipes and Dining Dollars will start on Saturday, July 6th. Unused summer Dining Dollars are nonrefundable and will expire on August 11th.

Other Important Information

Notification of your specific room assignment will be made before arriving.

As a Summer Start student, you will have the option of enjoying an early move-in instead of the craziness that ensues when thousands of other students are moving in during the same week!  We will provide assistance for students moving in from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 6th.

Please visit the  University Residences website for more information about housing.
