Summer Start Dates and Deadlines

We want to help you keep track of important dates and deadlines for the Purdue Summer Start session. Here are some key dates you need to know.

IMPORTANT DATES

Submit FAFSA ASAP! (Please note that you will need to submit separate FAFSA forms for the summer and fall semesters – more explanation can be found on our Costs and Aid page)

Accept your offer by: May 1, 2017

Pay your deposit by: May 1, 2017

Sign and complete summer/fall/spring housing contract by: May 5, 2017

Move In: July 6-9, 2017 – anytime 24-hours-a-day.  We want to make it convenient for you and your family’s timing.  You will be getting more information about move-in specifics through email and in the mail in late-May but please note that you will have a mandatory orientation from 2 PM to 7 PM on Saturday, July 8th.  Other than orientation, you can check-in and move into your residence hall anytime from Thursday to Sunday that weekend. We will be providing certain days/times when our office is on-hand to help and will provide you those details at a later date. Meal swipes will start on Sunday, July 9th.  You will have lunch (including up to two guests) provided by our staff on Saturday, July 8th and dinner that night will be provided for students only at the orientation program. 

Attend Summer Transition, Advising and Registration (STAR): Each Summer Start student is responsible for completing STAR no later than Friday, July 7, 2017.  Please note, STAR has open days after July 7th but your orientation is on the 8th and 9th of July and classes start on the 10th so please be sure you have registered for and completed STAR by July 7th.

Summer Start Student & Family Lunch: July 8, 2017 at 12:00 PM – this is not mandatory but a fun way for us to start meeting you and your family. We will cover lunch at the dining courts for a student and up to two guests.  You can bring more guests and pay for them yourselves. Orientation starts at 2 PM and for students only.

Pay Your Tuition by: July 9, 2017

Summer Start Courses Begin: July 10, 2017

Summer Start Courses End: August 11, 2017

Attend Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) or orientation welcome week: This is the week after Summer Start ends and before fall classes begin. You will need to register yourself for this program and your housing is covered in the interim week between the end of Summer Start and the beginning of fall classes if you are registered for BGR.

Fall Courses Begin: August 21, 2017

Drop Deadlines

Note: If you are required to attend Summer Start as a condition of your admissions offer from Purdue then you will NOT be admitted into any other subsequent term at Purdue unless you complete Summer Start in a following year.

Last Day to Drop with Full Refund: July 9, 2017

Last Day to Drop with 80% Refund: July 12, 2017

Last Day to Drop with 60% Refund: July 17, 2017

Last Day to Drop with 40% Refund and a Withdraw "W" on Your Transcript: July 20, 2017

Last Day to Drop with No Refund and a Withdraw "W" or Withdraw/Fail "WF" on Your Transcript: July 27, 2017

Attendance Policy

If you are required to attend Summer Start as a condition of your admissions offer from Purdue then you are allowed two days’ worth of absences during the 25 days of class. If you miss more then you will meet with a disciplinary committee and your admissions offer will most likely be rescinded and you will not be allowed to come to Purdue in the fall.  You can be up for reconsideration the following summer.  Absences relating to illnesses, funerals, emergencies, and the 4H program (with appropriate documentation) will not be counted towards your total absences.
