Where will you study, Boilermakers? 📚
Have you seen what Amelia Earhart wore on her solo Atlantic flight? Have you heard that it’s in the @purduearchives? 🔎

One more question: Did you know it includes @abercrombie?

Here's the outfit she selected to wear while accomplishing her amazing feat in 1932. The ensemble had to be carefully calculated to keep her warm for the nearly 15-hour excursion.

The slacks, jacket, flight suit and helmet were made with specialized fabrics and design details. They feature durable leather and Grenfell cloth, a densely woven cotton that could protect against outdoor elements.

Abercrombie & Fitch designed the jacket. The company, which was founded in 1892, was originally a retailer for sporting and excursion goods — from fishing boats to safari hats.

Purdue University Libraries’ Archives and Special Collections has more memorabilia, documents and photographs from Earhart to explore. Browse online at the 🔗 in our bio.
