Special Campus Events

  • Steve and Sandra Hageman Center for Student Achievement and Leadership Center
    Construction has begun on the AGAD-Steve and Sandra Hageman Center for Student Achievement and Leadership Project. Parking is limited on the south/west end of the AGAD building until the anticipated early September 2008 completion.
  • Discovery Park Site Development - Phase 6
    Discovery Park Site Development Phase 6 is underway. The project includes work around Mann Hall, Bindley Bioscience Center, and Burton Morgan Center. Please use caution in this area.
  • High Voltage Improvement Project
    The High Voltage Improvement Project will affect several areas of campus this summer. For more details, please visit this site.
  • Hockmeyer Hall of Structural Biology
    Construction of the Wayne T. and Mary T. Hockmeyer Hall of Structural Biology has begun. The two-year project will have construction traffic entering onto Harrison Street between South Russell Street and Martin Jischke Drive.
  • Niswonger Aviation Technology Addition
    Parking and traffic patterns are disrupted until August 1, 2008, near the Purdue Airport due to construction of the Niswonger Aviation Technology addition.
    - The service drive from Airport Road to the Aviation Technology Building and Aerospace Science and Composite Labs will be closed to thru traffic. Access to these buildings for staff, students, vendors, and construction site traffic will be available from South Russell Drive .
    - Parking will be eliminated to the east of the terminal building and to the south of the railroad tracks. A few parking spaces will be available across from the Flight Operations Building for Budget Rent-A-Car and Truck customers and across from the Aerospace Science Lab. These spaces may be unavailable at times.
    - CityBus service will be relocated to the front entrance of the Terminal Building .
    - The north entrance into the Aviation Technology building will be open to foot traffic.

  • Purdue Village Community Center and Patty Jischke Early Care and Education Center
    Construction has begun on the Purdue Village Community Center and the Patty Jischke Early Care and Education Center. The sites are on the north side of Nimitz Drive, east of Squirrel Park. Construction traffic will exit and enter the site from Airport Road onto Nimitz Drive.  Project duration is fifteen months.
  • Replacement Student Housing Project
    (corner of MacArthur Drive and First Street)
    Construction of new residence hall facilities (the Replacement Student Housing Project) has closed the gravel parking lot located at the corner of MacArthur Drive and First Street. A construction fence will be placed around the project closing the sidewalks and the street parking on First and MacArthur. The project is expected to be completed in July, 2009. At different times during the project, First Street will be closed to traffic for periods of time. Fowler House will be accessible at all times.
  • The gravel parking lot is permanently closed.
  • The installation of a new water main under the sidewalk on the south side of First Street from the entrance of the Fowler House parking lot to the east side of McArthur Drive has begun. Use caution in the area.
  • First Street, from McArthur Drive to the west entrance of the parking lot at Fowler House has closed for utility work.
  • Stadium Mall Drive
    Stadium Mall Drive will be closed until August 1, 2008, for the Stadium Mall Gateway project. Pedestrians will not be able to walk on the main drive at the northwest end of the Mall, although the sidewalks will remain open. Vehicles will only be able to access the Mall from the south, and the west entrance of Armstrong will be inaccessible to vehicles.
  • Wiley Hall Food Court (south of Wiley Hall on Martin Jischke Drive)
    •  Access and traffic patterns in the residence hall parking lot south of Wiley Hall are changed.
    •  Heavy construction and delivery traffic to the site is concentrated at the site entrance on Intramural Drive.
    •  Construction traffic is exiting the site through Fourth Street onto Russell Street.
  • Windsor Hall Remodel Project
    The Windsor Hall Remodel Project has begun. Access to the service dock areas of Duhme, Shealy, and Wood Halls is limited. The project completion date is July, 2008.
  • Young Hall
    Renovations at Young Hall are underway. A construction freight elevator has been installed on the west side of the building. Several parking spaces are unavailable. Please use caution in the area.

Parking Lots, Garages, and Sidewalks:

  • Summer Garage Cleaning Schedule
    The following is the summer garage cleaning schedule. Building Services will clean the buildings from 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

    June 1 – June 1 ............ Grant Street Garage
    June 11 – June 19 ....... University Street Garage (north half)
    June 22 – July 3 ........... University Street Garage (south half)
    July 6 – July 18 ............. Northwestern Street Garage (north half)
    July 20 – July 29 ........... Northwestern Street Garage (south half)
    July 30 – August 3 ........ Marsteller Street Garage

    Note:
    •  The Grant Street Garage will remain open. It will be cleaned one half at a time starting with the top three levels.

    •  The Wood Street Garage will be closed all summer for major repairs and cleaned by the contractor.

    •  The Marsteller garage will also have repair work done and the contractor will coordinate with Vivian Scott.

  • Armstrong and Civil (Walkway in between buildings)
    Beginning May 12 through August 1 please use caution while walking between Armstrong and Civil as crews in man lifts work on a masonry restoration project on the exterior of Civil. The work site will be fenced and all walkways will remain open.
  • Discovery Park Lot
    Three lanes of parking spaces in the back of the Discovery Park Lot (formerly called the south "C" lot) have been signed for no parking. These "C" spaces will be used for contractor parking during the summer.
  • Harrison Hall Site Development Project
    There will be no parking just north of Harrison Hall from May 12 through August 1, 2008, for the Harrison Hall Site Development Project.
  • Marsteller Parking Garage
    Please use caution in the Marsteller Parking Garage Sat., April 19 and Sun., April 20 as crews make repairs inside the garage.
  • University Street (West of Mathews Hall)
    The sidewalk on University Street west of Mathews Hall will be closed beginning May 12 through August 11.
  • Wood Street Parking Garage
    The Wood Street Parking Garage will be closed from May 12 through August 3, 2008 for repairs. Please contact Holly Alexander, Parking Manager, if you have any questions at haalexander@purdue.edu or 494-9315.

  • Parking Near Ross-Ade Football Stadium (Game Days)

    Vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense from all lots surrounding the Ross-Ade football stadium, Mackey Arena, and the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility for home football, basketball, and volleyball games. These lots will be signed prior to the events. Vehicles must be moved prior to:

    • Football - 8 AM on game days
    • Volleyball -5 PM on weekdays and 3 hours prior to game time on weekends
    • Basketball - 5 PM on weekdays and 3 hours prior to game time on weekends

Street And Other Campus Disruptions:

  • INDOT
    The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to repave various locations on campus beginning May 12 through June 30. Locations include:

    1.  North University St. from Stadium Ave. to Tower Drive
    2.  Ade Drive starting at Tower Drive
    3.  Tower Drive from University St. to N. Intramural Drive
    4.  N. Intramural Drive from SR 26 to 3rd Street
    5.  Beering Drive from Tower Drive to Stadium Ave.
    6.  Horticulture Drive from Harrison St. to one drive north of Harrison St.
    7.  Drive to Daniels turf farm on SR 126
  • Central Drive
    Beginning the week of April 21, crews will be pulling high voltage cable from the North Power Plant under Central Drive to Wetherill Hall. These cables will power the temporary substations that will be placed at the northwest corner of WTHR during the High Voltage Project.

    During the latter part of next week, Central Drive will be closed for one day to allow crews to install the cable in the tunnel that runs under the road. Signs will be posted and an announcement will be made when the exact date has been determined (either Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.) Vehicles that park in the HPN/ENAD lot will need to access it from the north side.

    The High Voltage Project's vault expansion and equipment upgrades at Wetherill are expected to last from May 12 through August 15, 2008. During that time, the area between WTHR and the North Power Plant will be fenced off for the contractor lay down area. A walkway on the south side of HPN is expected to be maintained. The temporary substations will be in a fenced off area on the northwest side of WTHR, near the bike racks and adjacent to Centennial Mall.  Central Drive will be closed for much of this project.

  • First Street (McArthur Dr. to west entrance of Fowler House)
    First Street, from McArthur Drive to the west entrance of the parking lot at Fowler House has closed for utility work. It will be closed from May 12, 2008, through the duration of the summer.

  • First Street (Between Jischke Drive and Russell Drive)
    First Street between Jischke Drive and Russell Drive will be closed until August, 2009 for the Duhme Hall Remodel Project. The Windsor Woods parking loop will not be available for thru traffic.

  • Harrison Street
    Traffic will be realigned along Harrison Street from Jischke Drive to Russell Drive for the start of the Harrison Street high voltage duct bank project. During construction additional streets will close for periods of time. These areas include:
    A. Harrison Street crossing at Transportation
    B. Jischke Dr. just north of Harrison Street
    C. Nimitz Dr. between Jischke Dr. and Gates Dr.
    D. Gates Dr. south of Nimitz Dr. to the Discovery Parking lot
    E. Arnold Drive . South of Nimitz Dr .

  • South Russell Drive (south of State Street)
    A tunnel top replacement project will take place immediately south of State Street on S. Russell Drive . The closure is from State St. to just before the entrance into the Lilly parking lot on the east side of the S. Russell and to the entrance into the Poultry building parking lot. Both parking lots will be available from the south side of the closure.

  •  South Russell Drive (Between Harrison St. and KB&S Railroad)
    South Russell Drive is expected to close for reconstruction between Harrison Street and the KB&S railroad tracks to the south beginning on or after May 19. Construction traffic, customers, and staff are asked to use Ahlers Road from S. River Road for access to campus buildings south of the railroad tracks.

  • Stadium Avenue (At bridge just west of David Ross Road)
    The Tippecanoe County Highway will close Stadium Avenue at the bridge just west of David Ross Road to replace the bridge.

Off Campus Road Disruptions

  • Construction is underway on SR 26 E, east of I65. The four lane section, from the I-65 northbound exit ramps east to the Meijer entrance, is restricted to one lane in each direction.  There are traffic switches at various times during the construction, as new pavement is opened to traffic, and old lanes removed. Please use caution in the area.
  • An added travel lanes project is in progress on SR 43 N, from I-65 to approximately 2 miles north of the interstate.
  • The City of West Lafayette is constructing Phase 2 of the Western Interceptor sewer project. Construction will be ongoing until fall 2008. Use caution at the project's three access points:
