Sidewalk Closure North of Bell Tower
Beginning Monday, February 8, 2010, and continuing for the next several weeks, staff will be removing abandoned water lines in the steam tunnels that run underneath campus sidewalks. Areas of campus will be blocked by fence while crews use a small crane to discard the debris into a dump truck or dumpster.
The first closure will take place along the east/west sidewalk located north of the Bell Tower. A map of the area is available here: http://www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/Bell_Tower_n_sidewalk.pdf
For questions or concerns about this project, please contact Mike Dexter at 49-44906 or madexter@purdue.edu.

On Saturday, February 6, 2010, the Armory Parking Lot will be closed for the 36th Annual Junior ROTC Drill Meet. Reserved parking spaces will be available for use. Gatewood Wing Addition to Mechanical Engineering – Traffic Update
Increased traffic and possible short-term standing traffic may take place along Centennial Mall due to the arrival of a crane and concrete trucks. As construction nears completion on the steel framework, concrete floor pours will begin. Following this work, exterior wall framing materials and additional workers will arrive on site.

- Gatewood Wing Addition to Mechanical Engineering
***Increased traffic and possible short-term standing traffic may take place along Centennial Mall due to the arrival of a crane and concrete trucks. As construction nears completion on the steel framework, concrete floor pours will begin. Following this work, exterior wall framing materials and additional workers will arrive on site.***
Fencing around the Gatewood Wing Addition to Mechanical Engineering has been installed causing major changes in walk and traffic patterns.
The "Y" intersection from Third Street near Elliott Hall of Music now has 3-way stop signs permanently installed.
During the Gatewood construction, parking on the inner and outer circle at Elliott Hall of Music have changed from perpendicular to parallel parking. Signage indicates these parking changes.
The construction traffic entrance to the site is from State Street through Centennial Mall.
Concrete barriers have been placed to divide the traffic route from the pedestrian route. Pedestrians are asked to use the west side of the mall (near Stanley Coulter). [Please note: All golf carts are restricted from using the pedestrian route as well as the construction vehicle route. Please use alternative routes to reach your destination.] Construction vehicles are limited to the east side (near Wetherill).
Additional signage has been posted along both the pedestrian and traffic routes. Please use caution near the construction area.

- High Voltage Improvement Project
The High Voltage Improvement Project will affect several areas of campus this fall. For more details, please visit this site.
Lilly Hall
The loading dock at Lilly Hall will have limited access beginning or the next several months. New transformers and a new duct bank will be installed at the southwest side of the building. Some parking spaces will also be lost during this project (S-spots, University Vehicle spots, and one metered spot.) Crews have begun cutting asphalt and excavation work. Please use caution in the area. A map of the area is available here. Information about this project is also available here.
- Hockmeyer Hall of Structural Biology
Construction of the Wayne T. and Mary T. Hockmeyer Hall of Structural Biology is expected to be complete by February 2010. Landscape activity has increased. Construction traffic in this area will continue through early winter.
- Lilly Hall SW Corner Handicap Ramp & Door Closed
The southwest corner handicap ramp and associated door of Lilly Hall will not be available until spring 2010 due to construction work in the building. A new, temporary handicap ramp has been constructed at the front of the building (State Street entrance side) and is currently in service.
- Mackey Arena Complex Project
Fencing is in place around Mackey Arena (see red outline on attached map) causing the sidewalks to close along the west side of Northwestern Avenue and the east side of University Street. During this time, pedestrians will be able to use a walkway located just north of the Lambert Fieldhouse (see the blue line on the attached map).
A map of the area may be found here: http://www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/Mackey_sidewalks.pdf
Parking lot changes near Mackey listed below.

F-lot Update:
Some Mackey Arena construction traffic will be routed through the entrance to the F Lot, located on Northwestern Avenue adjacent to the Mollenkopf Athletic Center. The current north entrance to the construction site will be closed until March 5, making it necessary to route construction-related traffic through the entrance to the F Lot. Parking spaces will not be affected, but there will be an increase in large vehicles in the F Lot.
People who park in the new F lot can access Mackey, IAF and Mollenkopf by using the sidewalk along the east side of Mollenkopf and then the new temporary sidewalk along IAF. The Mackey ramp will no longer be accessible to pedestrians.
Fencing will be in place so that no one can enter into any active construction zone.
In addition, steel deliveries to the construction site will soon begin. Please watch for semi-trailer trucks and use caution in the area.
A map of the area with pedestrian routes is available here:

A map of the area is available here: http://www.purdue.edu/physicalfacilities/travel/pdf/Hanley_Hall.pdf All of these disruptions are due to the construction of Hanley Hall. For contact information and more details about this new facility, please visit this site: http://www.purdue.edu/architect/about/construction/8213.htm Questions or concerns may go to Construction Inspector Joe Zachary at 49-40950.
