WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Purdue Varsity Glee Club will collaborate with the Cornell University Glee Club in a joint concert on Tuesday (April 3) in Lafayette.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 318 N. Ninth St., Lafayette. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students, and can be purchased by calling Purdue Musical Organizations at 765-494-3941.

For more than 120 years, the Purdue Varsity Glee Club has represented the university on campus, throughout the state of Indiana, across the country and around the world. In May 2017, the all-male ensemble traveled throughout Poland and the Baltic States on a two-week international performance tour, and will celebrate its 125th anniversary this coming October. The glee club has performed at six presidential inaugurations and on national stages including the Crystal Cathedral, the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. The ensemble has worked with some of the brightest stars of the screen and stage including Ed Sullivan, Skitch Henderson, Marvin Hamlisch, and Garrison Keillor. The glee club is directed by William Griffel, who is assisted by Scott Hines, and composed of 72 students studying a variety of majors from Engineering to Education and hailing from California to Maryland.

The Cornell Glee Club was established and originally named the Orpheus ensemble just one month after the university was founded in 1868. The Cornell University Glee Club is directed by Robert Isaacs, who is assisted by Stephen Spinelli, and is composed of 55 students studying a variety of disciplines from music and medicine, to agriculture and astronomy.
