Transformative Education 2.0: Next generation of myPurdue scheduled to launch summer 2024

A new and improved version of myPurdue will launch this summer, offering the Purdue University community new personalization options and a more modern interface.

Making use of recent technological advancements, the upcoming version of myPurdue empowers students, advisors, instructors and staff across Purdue Polytechnic Statewide, Indianapolis and West Lafayette with better control over their digital journey.

Carl Krieger, director of Student Life Residential Education, said the campus community will continue to use myPurdue to access a variety of advising, student success, and teaching and learning applications. Students rely on the system to register for classes, view their grades, pay tuition bills, review financial aid, order transcripts and to access related services.

With the new release, users will be able to personalize their experience by adding, removing and arranging content according to their preferences, bringing a touch of individuality to their virtual campus hub, said Krieger, who is a member of the core project team. 

As they do with mobile devices, he said users will have an option to search for “cards” or applications and add them to their personalized version of myPurdue. Some cards will be locked down to prevent individuals from accidentally removing essential applications as they personalize their home page. 

Since the initial 2008 launch, myPurdue has undergone three major upgrades.

“Based on feedback from the project’s early focus groups, today’s students want key information on apps in their phones and want to be able to customize systems for their interests and needs,” said Krieger, who led many of the focus groups. “The latest upgrade responds to the evolving needs of today’s students while continuing to provide familiar content with links to related applications.”

The focus for July is to deliver essential functionality provided by the current version of myPurdue on the new platform, according to Kelsie Newberry, lead business analyst who has been working on the implementation.  

As the initial phase of this project nears completion, Krieger said the team is working with a group of students to gather input for additional features to add to the portal after the July launch.

For the past 16 years, myPurdue has delivered content related to enrollment management and teaching and learning use cases. Moving forward, leadership plans to expand the content to other student-facing areas of the university.
