Visitor Accessibility Resources

Purdue University is committed to making education, employment, services, programs and activities accessible. Purdue University offers numerous resources to employees, students and visitors who may need additional assistance while attending, visiting and/or working for the University.

Athletics Events

To request accessible seating at Purdue Athletics Events, please contact:

  • Hayes Family Athletics Ticket Office: (800) 49-SPORT
  • John Purdue Club: (765) 494-2582

ADA patrons who do not have a season parking pass may park in O Lot and EE Lot.  O & EE Lots are first come first serve and day of lot availability is dependent upon season permits.  See this website for pricing. All vehicles must have an ADA placard or license plate displayed in/on the vehicle to park in either lot. The owner must be present in the vehicle when entering the ADA lot. H Lot is a John Purdue Club permit lot.

Commencement

Information on addressing accessibility needs for commencement ceremonies can be found on the Commencement webpage.

Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) Services

Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) services can be provided to allow for live “captioning” for individuals who are hard of hearing or Deaf. The captioning may be on a small screen that can be read only by the individual requiring the service. The CART captions can also be displayed on an overhead (for a small group) or broadcast on a large screen. The process is so fast that there is hardly any lag time between what is said and what the individual with the hearing impairment is able to read.

Due to needed compatibility testing for CART and the shortage of certificated sign language interpreters and certificated CART providers, requests for these services must be made in advance (at least one month prior) to ensure the necessary accommodation is in place for the event the individual is wishing to attend. To request this accommodation for performances and events, individuals should contact the group/unit sponsoring the event at least 30-60 days before the event.

Visitor Parking

Visitors may park at metered disability spaces (blue and white handicap signs) with the appropriate license plate or official handicap placard displayed on the vehicle dashboard. To view the location of metered disability spaces, please refer to the Campus Parking Map.

All parking garages have accessible parking spaces available including the following visitor parking garages:

  • Grant Street Parking Garage, 120 N. Grant Street
  • Harrison Street Parking Garage, 719 Clinic Drive

To utilize those spaces requiring an “A” permit and a disability license plate or official placard, visitors may purchase a daily permit at the rate of $5 from the Parking Facilities Office located in the Stewart Center, Room G054. For more information on accessible parking and permits, visit the Parking Disability Permit page.
