SupportLinc employee assistance program launches today

Life can be a juggling act. It takes time and energy to balance work, family and personal challenges. To help individuals manage life’s daily challenges, Purdue is announcing the SupportLinc employee assistance program (EAP). Access to these services begins today (July 1) for all benefits-eligible employees on the West Lafayette campus and their dependents covered on a Purdue health plan.

When it comes to addressing the nation’s civic literacy, there may be no better resource than C-SPAN, the nonprofit television network that covers political and policy events, known for offering “your unfiltered view of government.” When it comes to harnessing C-SPAN’s content, there is no better place than the Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Engagement at Purdue University. Part of the Brian Lamb School of Communication, the Center for C-SPAN has launched a podcast charting the history and principles of the United States’ governmental system.

Purdue scientists analyze moon dust collected by Apollo 17 astronauts

The echoes from Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon are still helping scientists make giant leaps in understanding the moon’s geology. Michelle Thompson, assistant professor of earth, atmospheric and planetary sciences, and Marc Caffee, professor of physics and astronomy, are working on teams that will analyze some of the moon rocks and lunar soil samples from the Apollo 17 mission.

And their natural adhesives tend to be much stronger and more durable than anything developed by humans – even the fast-acting, strong glues found on store shelves and advertised on TV.
